Heal Physiotherapy Riverside Run 2024

Heal is 20 years old this year and is delighted to host the Riverside Run to mark this anniversary.

We encourage you to get active and move more by joining us for a 4km or 2km distance.

The event will start next to the River Tay, adjacent to Discovery Point Museum, and head out along the Riverside footpath. There will be turn at 1km for those who chose to walk, a turn at 2km for those who are running. This event is an out and back course and will finish at the same point as the start. The event is all on the pavement with no road sections. As for previous years, the race will start in front of the Discovery Point Museum.

There will be goody bags for all finishers. Prizes for the 4km First Male and Female runners as well as for the first runners in the Under 20, Senior, Over 40, Over 50 and Over 60 age groups (Category prizes will go to the second person in that age group if the overall race winner is in the same category).

After the race there will be some Tea/ Coffee and Cakes available at the Heal Physiotherapy Clinic, 14 Dudhope Street, Dundee, DD1 1JU.

All entry fees and monies raised this year will go towards two causes that are close to our directors' hearts.

Lynne and her mum are part of Total Recall Memories Choir. Half the funds raised will go directly to this local initiative that brings the joy of music and singing to people who have a diagnosis of dementia. More information is available on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100068160373571

Last year's event raised a fantastic amount for Ataxia UK. Sally's daughter, Eilidh, has the condition Friedreich's Ataxia. This impacts Eilidh's balance, mobility, and coordination. The other half of the funds raised this year will be a benefit to both Ataxia UK (www.ataxia.org.uk) and go directly to fund Eilidh's treatment sessions at MOTIONrehab in Leeds.

10,500 people in the UK have ataxia which is a progressive neurological condition that disrupts the messages sent from our brains to our muscles that are used to move, speak, listen, and see. Ataxia UK funds research into finding treatments and a cure and provide support until they are found. Heal co-director Sally's daughter has Friedreich's Ataxia and therefore Heal is delighted to support the work of this wonderful charity
